What could be better than having a dog? They are adorable, fun, and extremely loyal. Most dog owners would agree that dogs are the best friends of men. They truly are that special.

What of the things that makes having a dog so joyful is their energy and playfulness. They are like kids who never grow up. Making sure that they will live a happy and fulfilled life is a big responsibility.

Of course, one more aspect of having a dog is their training. For example, if your dog jumps up on people this might not be desired by some, or it might be outright dangerous.

You may also be asking the same question: How to prevent my dog from jumping at people? It is important to know that this is caused by excitement and excess energy that the dog has. This may cause accidents especially if the dog jumps at a child.

So this really means that you need to teach him to stop it. You could go about it the following way: Instead of welcoming his gesture, simply turn away as he is about to jump. Then ignore him.

This is essential because your dog will come to understand that you do not like the jumping. Also, he will get nothing out of it – not even your attention.

You have to show him that you are the leader and that the dog will not be rewarded if he or she misbehaves.

You can always reward him afterwards – when he has settled down and is behaving well. A treat or a reward can then be given.

Dogs are amazingly smart pets, and your dog will not take long to figure out that behaving well will get him his desired reward. Misbehavior, in contrast, will get him nothing. So in order for this to work, you will need to be really persistent on that point.
